Autumn in Fitzroy

Next item on my Winter Wardrobe list was a light coat. I bought one from Asos which turned out to be such a dud that I sent it back. This bomber jacket was my replacement. On sale at Sportsgirl, the beautiful paisley pattern really jumped out at me and despite my efforts to focus more on basic items, I couldn't help but bring it home with me.

This sunny Sunday was spent riding bikes, getting coffee and wandering the leafy streets in Fitzroy, possibly my favourite way to spend the weekend.

Charcoal grey

Nothing better than a Sunday morning stroll in the Autumn sun. After a couple of quite cold weeks, we've had some beautiful weather the past few days. Bare legs again is such a treat. I have to keep reminding myself it isn't Spring again already, because that is how it feels!

I've been so super good at sticking to my wardrobe planning list. This charcoal grey sweater has been a superb purchase from the recent Country Road sale. It isn't a very exciting purchase but I've worn it non-stop ever since, which goes to show it was a much needed item. It's so great when you buy something that is missing from your wardrobe and you wonder how you ever lived without it.

p.s this graffiti makes me lol... 'suck it'

Winter Wardrobe Planning 2013

The time has come again for a winter wardrobe planning run down. This year I am strictly adhering to a list (actually this time!) which I wrote back in January but had yet to blog about.

Basically this list came about after I did my Top 5 Purchases of 2012 post. Doing that post really made me think about my shopping habits, and what was lacking in my wardrobe.

I came to the conclusion that I definitely don't need any more printed items (except for timeless striped tops of which I have two, but are worn to death) but instead, I need more basics. Seeing as I've been wearing mainly pants since Autumn arrived, I've realised I'm lacking in top-halves to match. Basic top-halves are therefore, my priority for winter.

Here is the full list;

grey jumper*
black jumper
striped long sleeved tee
navy shirt
black shirt
chambray shirt
white tshirt
long thick cardi
light coat / parka
black boots (heeled & flat)
flat shoes (suitable for work)
white sneakers
black jeans
navy chinos
leather skirt
plain black dress

So far this list has gone great! The list comprises of items that I've identified as being lacking in my wardrobe which quite obviously means when they're purchased, they fit seamlessly in with all my other clothes. Super satisfying, guilt-free shopping! So far this year I've only purchased one item which wasn't on the list (Zara tartan pants) and luckily it wasn't a major faux-pas.

I hate the thought of all the items I've purchased over the years that, despite my best efforts, just didn't get worn. I'm pretty ruthless with those items (maybe due to the guilt!) and if they're not worn, they get culled pretty darn quickly. Out of sight, out of mind I guess. But hopefully with this new list and very strict rules about it (its public now, I can't really stuff it up now... can I?), those guilts wont happen again and I'll never have 'nothing to wear'!

Perfect black leather

Finding the perfect black leather skirt has been a several-year-long quest. I've had a few leather and 'pleather' skirts in the past but none were just right, if you know what I mean. But I feel like I finally found it! My version of the 'perfect leather skirt. It is from Portmans, (surprisingly I've never ever shopped there in my life before) made of super soft leather, has pockets, is a great length and was quite affordable, all the necessary factors.

On another note, apparently I am dressing for dark winter days already, favouring all black.
